M'lore: Krishikara Jagruti Andolana asks Government Not to Ruin Villages

Mangalore, Sep 10: Lakshmisha Tolpadi, state vice-president of Bharatiya Kissan Sangh, warned the union government against disturbing the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in villages.

Speaking at the 'Krishikara Jagruti Andolana' organized in the city on Tuesday September 9 in association with Nagarika Seva Trust and several other organizations, he expressed his displeasure at the union finance minister P Chidambaram's declaration that a major population of India will be part of urbanization within the next 20 year, noting that the government through this declaration, has treated the village life with derision.

Eesha Vittaladasa Swamii of Kemaru Sandipani Sadhanashrama too addressed the gathering. Karavali Karnataka Janabhivridhi Vedike member Natesh Ullal expressed the need to amend the Land Acquisition Act of 1894, as it has become irrelevant now and demanded for a say for the gram panchayats and taluk panchayats in the matter of setting up mega industries.

Nagarika Seva Trust president K Somanath Nayak, Bolkunje parish priest Fr William Martis, Yahya Tangal, Moulana of Bolangadi Havva Masjid and several others were present.
