Augsburg extend contract of striker Richter

Berlin, May 29 (IANS): Augsburg have extended the contract of striker Marco Richter ahead of schedule, the Bundesliga club said.

The "Fuggerstaedter" agreed on a long-term contract with Marco Richter, who will stay with Augsburg until June 2023, it was announced on Monday, reports Xinhua news agency.

"Marco Richter has great potential and also proved that he can play in the Bundesliga last season. We are convinced that he will go his way and we are happy that we were able to tie Marco to the club for five years," Augsburg's CEO Stefan Reuter said.

The 20-year-old striker made his debut in Germany's top flight in October 2017 and has made 12 appearances to provide one goal.

"Augsburg is my club. I grew up here and became professional so I am all the more pleased that I can continue to work on my development here," Marco Richter said.

Richter is currently with Germany's U-20 national team and will face Germany's senior team for a test match in Italy.

Augsburg completed the Bundesliga season 2017/18 in the 12th position in the standings.
