London, Sep 15: As India hunts for the terror masterminds behind the deadly serial blasts in Delhi, the UK and US on Sunday September 14 led the world in expressing solidarity and offering support to the country in countering terrorism.

Britain's Foreign Secretary David Miliband said the attacks "are a terrible reminder of the threat from violent extremism."

"The UK and India are close partners, including in working together to counter the shared threat from terrorism. These horrific attacks will only serve to reinforce our shared determination to tackle violent extremism," he said.

US Ambassador to New Delhi David C Mulford said his country stands shoulder-to-shoulder with India in the fight against terror.

"There is no justification for the vicious murder of innocent people," he said in a statement.

India's southern neighbour Sri Lanka expressed its solidarity to the people of the country in the hour of crisis.

"Government and people of Sri Lanka stand by the people and the government of India in sympathy with those who suffered as a result of indiscriminate terrorist bombing and stand in solidarity with all comprehensive measures that are being taken by authorities in India to eradicate terrorism," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and former premier Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the serial blasts that claimed many lives, terming those responsible as "enemies of humanity".

The Indian Muslim Council of USA and Federation of Indian American Christian Organisations of North America have also condemned the terror attack.
