Bengaluru, Jun 25: G T Devegowda, higher education minister, instructed the teachers, lecturers, and principals of government schools and colleges to work sincerely and do justice to the pay they receive from the government, instead of roaming around the politicians.

He was speaking after inaugurating the national executive meeting organized by the Karnataka Government College Teachers' Association (KGCTA) and All India Federation of University and College Teachers' organizations (AIFUCTO) at Maharani's Science College for Women in the city on Sunday, June 24.

"Commoners have lots of respect for teachers. This has to be sustained by the teachers. Lecturers have the prime responsibility of improving the education system. Handle it efficiently," suggested the minister.

Continuing his address, G T Devegowda said, "Lecturers and chancellors are recruited in universities in order to increase the skill development in students. However, the present situation of the universities is different. Government is ready to resolve the issues faced by professors and lecturers. Teachers and lecturers have to show their achievement in the results of students.

"We will make amendments to the transfer policy of lecturers of degree college. We will come out with a tranfer policy that is lecturer-friendly."
