B'lore: Another Minister Accuses Centre of Playing Political Game

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Sep 25: The state government has strongly expressed its unhappiness over the opinions made public by the officials of a central team which visited the state to examine the efficacy of the measures undertaken by the government. It has accused the centre of playing political games.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday September 24, law and parliamentary affairs minister S Suresh Kumar accused the union government of trying to use the incidents of disturbances to further political interests.

The officials deputed here are expected to submit their report to the concerned, and not pass judgments on the governments and officials as if they are the judges. Their action has surprised us, he added.

The central officials have behaved as if they are issuing a diktat to the state government. The statements issued by them tantamount to contempt of court as the state government has already ordered judicial probe into the incidents, he felt.

It looks as if the central government had issued them prior instructions to do so, before deputing them to the state. Instead of clearing the air, they have issued politically motivated statements that are aimed at vitiating the atmosphere, Kumar charged.

The state government has taken serious note of the statements of these officials. The union government had chosen not to send any team to Maharashtra even after law and order situation there had gone out of control after the Thakrey family gave rise to a dispute by warning the north Indians that they can not live in Mumbai, he pointed out.
