Mumbai: Former president of Billavara Association R V Amin passes away

Mumbai, Jun 28: Former president of Billavara Association and one of the persons instrumental in forming Chembur local committee of the association, Raju Venkappa Amin also known as R V Amin (91) passed away of old age at his residence at Yogeshwar building, Garodi Nagar, Ghatkopar east on Thursday morning June 28.

He hailed from Nadikoppala, Palimar of undivided Dakshina Kannada district. He was an active member of the executive committee of Billavara Association and served as honorary chief secretary from 1955-57 and president in 1964. He retired as the personnel manager of Bharath Cooperative Bank, Mumbai.

The bank's executive committee and senior officials visited his residence on the eve of the inauguration of the hundredth branch of the bank and felicitated him. He had molded a humane, polite and cultured life due to his unceasing work. He strived hard for the progress of society. He was a socialist and was people friendly.

He has left behind his wife Shanti, son Navinchandra, daughter Vijayalaxmi, a large number of friends and relatives.

National Billavara Mahamandala president and Bharath Bank executive president Jaya C Suvarna, Billavara Association Mumbai president Nithyananda D Kotian, honorary chief secretary Dharmapal G Anchan, office bearers, members, former president L V Amin, former president of Bharath Bank Vasudeva R Kotian, vice president advocate Rohini J Salian, managing direcror C R Mulki, board of directors, Sooru C Karkera, K Bhojaraj, BCCI executive president N T Poojary and others have expressed their condolences on R V Amin's demise.

His last rites will be held on Thursday afternoon June 28 at 3 pm at Garodinagar crematorium. Billavara Association Mumbai and Chembur, local committee and office bearers, members and Bharath Bank senior officials paid their last respects.
