Bengaluru: Biscuits thrown at affected people - Revanna ready to apologize

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 22: PWD minister, H D Revanna, reacting to general outrage expressed by the people at his arrogance in throwing packets of biscuits at the people sheltered in relief camps instead of distributing the same to them, clarified that he had tossed the biscuits towards the people to ensure that everyone gets the biscuits and they are able to satiate their hunger. "There was no arrogance or purpose of insulting the people behind this action," he stated.

The minister issued clarification after his behaviour got widely circulated and received bitter criticism, on Tuesday August 21. "If I had been overcome with superiority complex, I would not have led the relief works and got fully involved with this task for four days. I also would not have distributed 250 quintals of rice, 3,000 litres of milk and huge amount of biscuits and lentils to the affected people," he said in support of himself.

Revanna accused BJP leaders of failing to assimilate what he has been doing and blowing such a small incident out of proportions as they are politically inclined. "Since the last 25 years, these areas are represented by BJP legislators. But none of them have come to the rescue of affected people, nor have they properly assessed the situation here," he noted.

He also expressed anger at the fact that no Union minister has visited the region so far. He asked leaders from all sectors to drop political one-upmanship and join hands to help the affected people during the current crisis.

Revanna, at the same time, offered to apologize if anyone feels that he had committed a mistake in throwing the biscuit packets to the inmates of relief camp.

Dear Minister, it is not important the amount of food distributed to the needy, it is the attitudes, civility and human dignity that people have noticed during the distribution. Even if you have paid for it from your own pocket, you should have shown some support, compassion and consolation to those people. We don't throw stuff even at the beggars in a modern world. These people are distressed due to no fault of theirs and they need help with dignity.

Politics aside, you need to take some sensitivity training classes and improve your class so that we can be proud of our leader and re-elect you. Besides, you need to apologize publicly or else, people may throw you out in a same manner during the next election.

It's really very painful to see how he was throwing packets on the people. If the sharp corners of the packets hit the eyes.... then? People were in helpless situation..
There were so many people were standing along with him. .could not they volunteer to hand over in line.. every person would have got it. All people assembled over there didn't get. Half of the way he is instructing the man who holds the box to move...

Why do we need such ministers... Very sad. Our own people treat our own people this way?????

No wonder your party was washed out in the elections and eventually had to hang on to Deve Gowdas for survival and shout Vijoyotsava. One more nail in the Congi coffin.

You cannot justify your leader's arrogance by giving someone else's past incident, what Yeddyurappa did in 2012 was highly condemnable. This makes no sense if you depend every ruthless act of every person who fights BJP.
For your kind information, these same father-son gang can change side any time in future.

    @ Truth Teller, Karnataka,

It is not about Yeddy, Revanna, BJP, congress JDS etc. It is about humanity and respecting individual. When these elected leaders expected to serve us everyday, they behave in such a pathetic and disgusting way. Honestly, he does not deserve to be a minister and also HDK who support him for this incident.

Does he do the same at his home?
