Mangalore, Nov 2: A boy died after he fell down a drainage pipeline passage located on the top of an apartment complex on Arya Samaj road, on Sunday November 2.

The deceased has been identified as Rohit Suvarna (17), who was visiting a friend living in the complex. Hailing from Coorg, he was a pre-university student in a reputed city college and resided with relatives near Ideal Coaching Classes in Kodialbail.

Rohit and his friend had climbed to the top of the apartment complex accompanied by his friend to take photographs. He fell down the drainage passage after the cement sheet on which he was standing to take the pictures, broke.

Rohit succumbed to injuries on the spot and had to be removed from the drainage passage with the help of fire fighters. Kadri station police have registered a case.

Some time ago, a boy died in a similar manner near the BSNL head office in Pandeshwar when he was trying to catch pigeons.

We were shocked to hear this. We feel sad for Gagan to have tragedy struck this way at a prime time of his life. We just cant forget such wonderful relative. I hope my niece will have the strength to cope with this tragedy. My deepfelt sorrow goes with Roshan uncle, Vinnanna and family. Gagan was a dynamic , friendly and caring by nature. Whenever we visited India we used to feel he will come up in life with his high ambition and achievement. We just cant digest the fact that such loopholes in the building safety factor has caused this tragedy.

Having a grill in the drain sheet would have prevented this trajedy. High rising building have cropped up in mangalore with least importance given to safety. When people shell out somuch to a flat in mangalore its paramount importance to protect our future generation with due consideration to safety as well. No wonder these so called builders have flashy cars in mangalore. Its a sad state of affairs in India. Just wondered how many builders inform safety considerations in their glossy leaflets.

Heartfelt sympathy to the family of Rohan. May God Almighty give strength to the parents of departed soul. It may be recall that exactly similar incident took place in Mangalore 5 years ago in which a 7 year old boy met the same fate in TALISMAN APARTMENT, Kadri. Unfortunately the competent authorities concerned never heed to impose constraint on the part of the builders. It is high time that the Builders should take measures in ensuring that underneath the sheets a support in the form of iron grill or atlest wooden planks should be fixed.

My deepest sympathies to the parents and family of the innocent lad. No parent can imagine what it's like and yet all would agree that nothing could be harder than facing the loss of a innocent child. The Govt authorities should take stringent action against the builders whoso ever has and is violating the safety norms.

May the soul of the deceased be in peace at abode.. the builders have to be brought to knees, for such a careless job, which costed the life of an innocent lad who was a dream to his parents. May God Almighty give strength to bear this heavy loss to all Rohan's beloved.
