Kundapur: High school teacher attempts suicide, rescued by locals

Kundapur, Oct 7: A high school teacher who jumped in Navunda lake to commit suicide was rescued by local people here.

The teacher who attempted suicide is identified as Shashikala Naik (45), resident of Ankola by origin and teacher in government high school at Uppunda.

Shashikala teacher lives with her husband, Navunda college headmaster in charge Hinnappa Naik at Navunda. It is said that Shashikala was depressed as her two children had gone away for studies. She was under treatment for her depression but had not taken the medicine during the last two days.

She had gone out on Saturday morning saying that she is going to the school but jumped in Navunda lake. Local people rescued her immediately. She is undergoing treatment at Kundapur private hospital.
