Mangaluru: Abduction of minor girl of Davanagere origin - accused arrested

Mangaluru, Oct 7: In connection with the complaint about the kidnapping of a minor girl of a couple from Davanagere, the Pandeshwar police have succeeded in arresting Sunil (19) from Chinchali in Mulgund, Gadag district. He has been booked under provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Sunil used to work in the city as coolie and had rented a house here. He came in contact with a minor girl of Davanagere origin. In course of time, he fell in love with the girl. Reportedly he had kidnapped her by convincing her of his marriage plans.

The girl's parents had filed abduction complaint against the teenager in Pandeshwar police station. The police who began investigation,confirmed that both of them were in Gadag, on the basis of mobile location. Police teams were deputed there twice, but both the times they returned empty-handed, having been unable to trace the duo. The police proved successful in their third attempt with the help of the local police.

As the girl is eight months pregnant now, charges of abduction as well as rape have been slapped against the youngster. He was produced in the court whereupon he was remanded to15 days judicial custody.
