Kundapur, Oct 9: The district superintendent of police has ordered for the immediate suspension of two policemen citing dereliction of duty on their part.

The suspended police personnel are Gopal H of district armed reserve police force and Uday Kumar, attached to Byndoor police station.

An under-trial prisoner, Suresh Marati (26), who is facing a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, which happened within the limits of Byndoor police station, had been brought here for questioning on Saturday. After the questioning, he was being escorted back to Karwar prison when he suddenly escaped from his police escorts at Byndoor police station.

The police in the meanwhile, are continuing with their efforts to nab the escapee prisoner.
