Mangaluru: Women snatch gold chain of lady in bus, chased,caught by public

Mangaluru, Oct 11: In an incident which occurred on Wednesday October 10 at Gurupur near here, two women of Tamilnadu origin, who escaped after snatching a gold chain of an elderly woman in a city bus, were chased and caught by the public.

Baby (70), wife of Babanna, a native of Aleigudde at Gurpur and presently residing at Ullal, was travelling from Mangaluru to Gurpur by bus in order to collect her pension. In the very bus, two women of Tamilnadu origin were also travelling. They noticed the gold chain on the neck of Baby and snatched the same and got down from the bus at Gurpur. However, while snatching the chain, it got cut and fell in the bus itself. Baby, the elderly lady, immediately informed the incident to the others.

The chain snatcher ladies caught an autorickshaw near Edapadavu and were travelling to Mangaluru. The locals who chased the autorickshaw were successful in intercepting the vehicle near Gurupur bridge. The thieves were handed over to the police by the public.
