Mangaluru, Nov 3: What happens in schools today is likely to determine what will happen in our society in future. With this aim, Mount Carmel central school hosted the “Carmel Ingenium – 2018”, an interschool competitions, which are planned and executed by the students with the guidance from their teachers and sponsored by the PTA of the school.
Prayer and welcome dance created a serene atmosphere among the participants who were from 16 different schools in the city. UKG kids by their rhythm and smiling faces set a relaxed atmosphere. The inaugural was a unique one. The general guiz, the ATL plugged in and the tech-fever were all planned to enhance creativity and foster critical thinking. The human brain was tickled so as to help the thoughts flow down at the inaugural.
Ryan Lobo, the vice-president of PTA in his inaugural address motivated the students to take part in such co-curricular activities and wished the participants the best in the events to follow.
Principal Sr Melissa blessed the participants and wished them well.
Rahul Madtha of IX compeered the programme, Arundhati of class IX welcomed the gathering and Gareth Moras of class VIII proposed the vote of thanks.
The general quiz was conducted by Meghavi Manjunath, founder Quriosity Solutions, Bengaluru assisted by Amal Mohan of NITK, Mangaluru, and staff Sr Lydwin Pinto, Sushma Pearl and Prathima Mohan. The ATL plugged-in event planners were school staff - Caroline, Shaila K and Manish. The thrilling event, 'Tech Fever' was designed by Agnes Pereira, the computer lecturer of the school. The assistance of the student volunteers at every event was well appreciated.
The valedictory ceremony was held at 12 pm, where one could see not the hunger for lunch but hunger to win. In her message to the gathering, the administrator of the school Sr Carissima cited ‘Success is not final neither failure is fatal, it is courage to participate that counts’. She also noted the involvement of the school PTA members.
Nisha Albuquerque, the joint secretary of PTA delivered the vote of thanks. Then came the most awaited moment, where the head girl Larrel Coutinho announced “The winner takes it all”. The winners were awarded prizes and certificates by Meghavi, the quiz master, Ryan Lobo and Nisha Albuquerque. The overall winning trophy was bagged by Sharada Vidyalaya and the runner up was
St Theresa’s School. The ceremony was compeered by Shreya K of class X.
Carmel Ingenium was an interactive platform where the students not only participated to take home a trophy but to gain knowledge and seek opportunities to excel beyond academics and learn from each other. It was another fruitful learning experience at MCCS.
