Mangaluru: Forest department, photographers'association organise saplings planting programme

Mangaluru, Nov 4: A sapling planting programme was held by forest department in association with South Canara Photographers' Association here at government school in Bolar on Saturday, November 3.

Prashanth Kumar, of Mangaluru South Canara Photographers' Association spoke about importance of trees. He also urged to plant saplings and grow trees for a better tomorrow.

Corporator Rathikala also called upon students to plant saplings and protect the nature.

Forest officer P Shridhar addressing the gathering said that trees help in providing clean air and also sufficient rain.

Veenakshi K, head mistress of the government school thanked the organisers for a meaningful program.

Gretta Anitha Fernandes compered. South Canara Photographers' Association Mangaluru treasurer Vasanth Rao rendered vote of thanks.

School development committee president Shindligowda Hiregowda, environmentalist Madhava Ullal, SKPA secretory Ajay Kumar, president Padmanabha Suvarna were present.

    Forest departments... Nurseries..Horticulture.. Schools.. Private cos...
    Municipalities.
    Allocate 1000 acres of land and start Digging Pits by thousands in specified areas and start planting by Thousands and not like FLAG hoisting..
    This is serious business.save nature .now is the time.
    Let Forest department allocate areas .and provide Saplings.
    Line up the kids and let them start planting across like stitching and not Drama..
    this is joke. for media and some Token..no need ..time has lapsed we are in serious condition like ICU with Nature.
    Each plant is OXYGEN plant .. Half of our Lungs are out there ..they convert CO2 into O2 for us to breathe in.. be literate ..be educated.act now.
    Work like Chinese ..
