Beltangady,  Nov 5: A patient of the government hospital here committed suicide on Sunday November 4 by hanging himself from the window of the hospital toilet.

The deceased was Ramanath (47), who worked as coolie in the town and nearby areas. He had visited the hospital unaccompanied on October 30, complaining of digestion-related complications. He was admitted into the hospital as an inpatient.

It is gathered that in the past too he had got admitted into the government hospital here for health problems, and was treated and sent back.  But this time, he ended his life inside the hospital premises on Sunday morning.

At the time of admission, he gave his address as Kurunjibagh, Sullia.   But when the authorities contacted this address for conveying information about the suicide. Ramanath's relatives were not found.  The police therefore have asked relatives of the deceased if any to contact Beltnagayd police station.
