Mumbai, Nov 19: Governor S C Jamir inaugurated the first certification course in ‘Pranayama’, on Monday November 17 at Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute, Lonavala.
Forty participants from 15 countries are attending the course which lasts for one month.
Governor Jamir highlighted the need for propagation of Yoga amongst the masses. He stressed the importance for citizens to have an integrated character to build an integrated nation. He praised the efforts of the institute in the field of research, training, and therapy.
The governor also drew attention to the institute’s association with great leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Dr B R Ambdedkar. Dr Rajan Welukar, vice-chancellor, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharastra Open University (YCMOU), and Kaivalyadhama Samiti advisor, welcomed the gathering.
After the inaugural function, Governor Jamir visited the scientific research department and watched a live experiment on the physiological effects of ‘asana’ and Pranayama.
