Puttur: Labourer from north Karnataka hangs himself

Puttur, Nov 30: A labourer of north Karnataka origin ended his life at Kepulu in Chikkamudnur village in the outskirts of the town on Thursday, November 29.

The deceased has been identified as Shankarappa (60) from Ponnakoppa in Shirahatti taluk, Gadag district.

Shankarappa was in the past, working in a farm belonging to a man from Kepulu. He had later stopped working and returned to his native place. In the recent past, he returned here and began to work again. On Thursday, he hanged himself from a tree by the side of the farm for which he worked. A person who was grazing cows nearly saw the body hanging from the tree.

On the basis of complaint filed by Rajesh, son of the dceased, a case has been registered in the town police station here. It is said that Shankarappa was addicted to liquor. Reason for his decision to end life is not known.
