Karkala, Dec 2: Court granted conditional bail to Durga gram, Karkal Tellur resident Sridhar Acharya who was accused of rape of a girl belonging to scheduled caste and was arrested by Karkal rural police station.
The accused who is a carpenter by profession was accused of impregnating the girl. A case was registered on September 7, 2018.
Karkal DySP Beliappa had submitted a charge sheet to the court. The complainant had lodged similar complaint in 2017 against another man and the case is being heard in the court.
Udupi district and session court justice T Venkatesh Naika has issued a conditional bail to the accused. Kundapur advocate Ravikiran Murdeshwar had argued the case of the complainant for bail.
