Dharwad: BJP plans to lay siege to Suvarna Soudha on Dec 10

Dharwad, Dec 3: Former Karnataka chief minister and BJP leader, Jagadish Shettar, said that the state BJP unit will register its protest against the anti people policies of the state government and maladministration, by laying siege to Suvarna Soudha, Belagavi, on December 10, which happens to be the first day of the winter session of the state assembly.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday December 2, Shettar stated that the coalition government of JD(S) and Congress has overlooked the interests of the state by pursuing anti-people policies. "Chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, is unable to think beyond Hassan, Ramanagara and Mandya districts. It looks as though this government was formed for these three districts. While grants running into thousands of crores of rupees are being released for these districts, other districts are getting a pittance," he complained. He also accused Kumaraswamy of taking a stand that he has been right in showering grants to only a few districts as people from other districts had not voted for his party.

He said that the BJP has planned this protest against discriminatory policies of the coalition government, failure to waive crop loans, inability to handle issues faced by sugarcane growers, utter neglect of north Karnataka region and several other issues.

Shettar said that all the office bearers and activists of BJP will participate in the rally, which would be led by BJP state president, B S Yeddyrappa, adding that the rally will be flagged off at Belagavi from where it will march towards the Suvarna Soudha.

"The situation has come to such a pass that the people are compelled to doubt whether there is no government in the state now. On certain matters, it is as good as dead. We are facing the misfortune of whipping the government back to life from its deep slumber. Kumaraswamy is aware that the coalition government will not last long. That is why he is concentrating on development activities in only three districts. The government is politicising the issue of even providing uniforms to the school children under a scheme of the central government," he complained.
