Mangaluru, Dec 4: 'Vraksha Suraksha', a programme to instill awareness about the environment in the young minds by planting the saplings was organized under the joint auspices of Southcanara Photographers' Association (R) Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts and Karnataka Forest Depratment, Mangaluru zone at the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Government Higher Primary School at Mannagudda in the city on December .

The stage programme of the event was presided by Sureshchandra Shetty, president, Karnataka Wrestling Association (R) Bengaluru and alumni of the government school, Mannagudda. The programme was inaugurated by Jayanti Achar, member of MCC. P Sridhar, zonal forest officer, Mangaluru, Sri Madhava Ullal, environment lover, Meera M V, acting headmistress, government higher primary school, Mannagudda and Shabana Banu, president, SDMC school Mannagudda were the chief guests.

Jagannat Shetty, former district president of Southcanara Photographers' Association, welcomed the gathering. Padmanabh Suvarna, president of Southcanara Photographers' Association, Sri Ajay Kumar, chief secretary, B Vasant Rao, treasurer and members of the association were present on the occasion.

Satish Shetty, member of old students' association of the school, staff members and students of the school took part in the programe. Geetakumari, assistant teacher of the school compered the programme.
