Davangere: Never thought that I would lose elections - Siddaramaiah

Davangere, Dec 4: Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah expressed his disappointment that people had forgotten those who work. “They defeated me in the elections,” he said.

Speaking in the programme to pay homage to departed former MLA M P Ravindra at Harappanahalli he said that he does not know what do people see while casting votes. “Congress government had done excellent development works during its last term. No government in history has achieved as much as our government. I did not think even in my dream that I will lose the elections. But they defeated me in Chamundeshwari,” he said.

“I was shocked for a moment looking at the results on the day votes were being counted. I would not have been able to reach this far if people in Badami had not supported me,” he said.

Speaking about late M P Ravindra, he said that Ravindra had always aspired for development. “His father M P Prakash was a good author, singer and administrator. Ravindra had developed some of the characteristics of his father. He had worked hard to include Harappanahalli in 371 J column. He announced his retirement when he worked so hard. I phoned him at that juncture and asked him to contest elections. However, he said that he will contest only if Harappanahalli is included in 371 J column. Therefore, I included Harappanahalli taluk in 371 J column. I did all the work that Ravindra asked. But the people forget those who work. We asked wages for the work done. But people did not pay them. Has any development taken place in the taluk now even after six months?” he asked.
