Belagavi: Bolero hits sugarcane tractor - six women die

Belagavi, Dec 5: After a Mahindra Bolero vehicle rammed into a tractor loaded with sugarcane near Hirenandi village in Gokak taluk in the district on Tuesday December 4, six women lost their lives.

The deceased women were returning to their village in Bolero vehicle after taking part in the funeral of a relative. The deceased were Gangavva Hurali (30), Kashavva Khandri (70), Yallalvva Poojary (45), Yallavva Gundappanavar (40) and Renuka Sopadla (35). All the deceased belonged to Madamageri and Yarajaravi village in Saudatti taluk.

The Bolero had eight passengers. Four of them died on the spot while two others died while being taken to hospital. Two others with serious injuries were admitted into the government hospital at Gokak.

The Bolero was carrying people who were returning after attending the funeral of a relative at Gokak Falls. It is said that the Bolero vehicle that was moving very fast went out of control of the driver and hit a tractor moving ahead.

A case about this accident was registered at Gokak rural police station.
