Udupi, Dec 7: Varalaskhmi M N, residing in an apartment complex on Convent Road here has complained against mental and physical torture and threat to life faced by herself, her mother, and her child from her husband, T Ashok. She said she had earlier complained to the women's police station here on November 15, in response with which herself and her husband had been asked to appear for personal counselling at KMC Hospital Manipal on Novembe 27.

She had got admitted into the government hospital at Ajjarkad for treatment of injuries caused during assault by her husband on October 11, 2017. She has alleged that she has been a victim of dowry harassment at the hands of her husband and mother-in-law.

She says that after she complained to the police, her husband has deployed some people who move about suspiciously, to keep close watch on the movements of herself and her close ones. She alleged that during the visit to KMC Hospital for counselling on November 27 too a person who looked like a ruffian, had accompanied her husband. She therefore apprehends threat to her life from him.

She has asked the police to take legal steps against her husband and see that her husband gives back all expenses incurred by her parents for her marriage, dowry amount, and gold ornaments presented on the occasion.
