Udupi: Coolie working on railway tracks crushed under train

Udupi, Dec 8: A coolie named Nagaraj (21), who was hired along with several others to spread crushed stones equally on the railway tracks, died on Friday December 7 under the weight of an oncoming train.

Nagaraj was working on the tracks at the railway station at Indrali here. Other workers who heard the sound of the approaching train ran away and saved themselves. Nagaraj, who was engrossed in his work, did not notice this and continued to work.

A DMU train which came from the direction of Barkur moved over him, inflicting critical injuries to his head. He died on the spot. A case about this incident was filed at Manipal police station.
