Moodbidri: Man attacks, injures wife with sickle - jumps into well

Moodbidri, Dec 8: Differences between a man and his wife escalated on Friday December 7 at Padumarnadu here, culminating in the husband attacking his wife with a sickle, injuring her in the bargain. He then jumped into a well but was rescued.

The police here have registered a case of attempt to murder against the man, who has been identified as Raviraj Shetty. Soumya Shetty (29) who suffered deep injuries in her right hand, stands admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru for treatment.

Soumya works in a school at Sanoor. Raviraj is employed in a hotel.Soumya is from Padumarnadu. She had married Raviraj from Kuppepadavu sometime back. As serious differences arose between the wife and husband, Soumya had returned to her parents and has been living with them.

The husband, frustrated by the situation, came to Padumarnadu on Friday morning and approached his wife who was waiting for a bus to go to her school. He brutally attacked his wife. When people from around the spot gathered, he developed cold feet and ran away. He reached the house of his wife at Padumarnadu and jumped into the family well in an attempt to end his life. But locals succeeded in bringing him out.

    What is today a family life ?does it exist?people are more aggressive.speak only with either lethal weapons ,or hands.Thatswhy better seek a partner from nearby place ,avoid to bring unknown places.One never know how a person is in character or his /her earnings.Now sad this woman got injured,hope it will heal fast.This man deserve a hard punishment.
