Mangaluru, Jan 1: The annual event ‘The Time Square Music and Dance Festival 2018’ held at Expert Pre University College, Valachil featured a range of Bharatanatyam dance performances by the artistes from Sanathana Nrithyalaya, here.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, a noted cardiologist Dr Mohan Pai, and other dignitaries by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Dr Mohan Pai remarked that art is the fifth Veda. Music is common between art and heart and art comes from heart. Dance as an art form is used to worship god. Lord Shiva is Nataraja or king of all dances.
The dance performance highlighted the unique feature of Indian culture. Beginning with Pushpanjali and followed by Ganapathi Stuti, the artistes performed enchanting Panchabhootha dance, Shiva Shambhonritya, Devi Stuti dance, Jaavali dance, Tanavarana dance, Dashavathara dance, Bhajan dance and a patriotic dance all set into bharathanatyam style presented a visual treat to the audience.
Usha Mohan Pai; Chandrashekhar K Shetty, director Sanathana Nrityalaya; Kalashree Vidushi Sharada Manishekhar; Vidushi Srilatha Nagaraj, Professor Ramachandra Bhat, principal Expert PU College Kodialbail and Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal Expert PU College Valachil were present on the occasion.
Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal honoured the artistes with mementos. Sheryl D’Souza, faculty from the department of Chemistry extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and the audience and anchored the programme. Adline Riya Braggs proposed the vote of thanks.
