Mangaluru Jan 6: NRI entrepreneurs and community leaders from Dubai, James Mendonca and Joseph Mathias, jointly  inaugurated NRI Cell here at MCC Bank head office on St Aloysius College Road, on Sunday, January 6.

Managing director Daijiworld Pvt Ltd, Walter Nandalike and former chairman of MCC Bank, Francis Cutinho, inaugurated MCC Bank ATM attached to the head office.

Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha blessed the NRI cell.

Addressing the gathering, Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said, “Customer service is always the key as you need to satisfy customers. When customers visit bank, it is better that the staffs treat the customers like VIP. They will feel good and that creates a good impression about the bank.

“It is better that the staffs of the bank remember the name of the customer and call them by name because name is the most musical sound which makes a major difference,” he said.

James Mendonca said, “MCC Bank has opened the NRI cell today as a lot of people from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in America, Canada and the gulf. You need to concentrate on gulf countries for deposit and investments. Today, customers are smart and they expect banks to be smart and banks should start thinking in customers’ perspective. By giving quality service, you can gain confidence of the customers.”

Joseph Mathias, MD, Merit Freight systems Co and LLC, UAE and Mangaluru said, “I congratulate the administration of MCC Bank for inaugurating NRI Cell. MCC has a vast history of over 100 years which is a proud feeling. Now it has started NRI service under dynamic chairman Anil Lobo.”

Walter Nandalike said, “MCC Bank is our bank. Sometimes this word ‘Our’ creates a lot of problem and people start taking advantage of it. For example, if a person takes loan from MCC, when the time comes to repay the loan, he might say it’s ‘Our’ bank and we can repay the loan whenever we want.

“MCC Bank will now help NRI’s open their account in the bank which is the most positive thing. MCC Bank has identity and vast history. Whenever an NRI lands at the airport, every bank will be on their toes to ask NRIs to open account in their bank. MCC Bank has to face this challenge now.”

Anil Lobo, chairman, MCC Bank, welcomed the gathering.

General Manager Sunil Menezes rendered vote of thanks.

Anil Patrao and Andrew D'Souza compered.

Former chairmen MCC bank Valentine D’Silva, Melwyn P Noronha and Francis Cutinho and others were present.
