Kochi, Sep 5: Dulquer Salmaan’s latest Malayalam film I Am Game has made a promising start at the box office, collecting an estimated Rs 4.50 crore gross on its opening day in India.

The film has also reportedly recorded a double-digit opening globally, making it Dulquer Salmaan’s third film to achieve the feat after Kurup and King of Kotha. The exact worldwide collection is expected to be announced later.

However, I Am Game faces competition from the successful Malayalam release Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, which has continued its strong run even in its third week. The Dulquer-starrer has also received mixed reactions from audiences, raising concerns over its performance in the coming days.

The film is expected to witness an increase in collections during the Janmashtami holiday. Its overall box-office performance will depend on how strongly it grows over the weekend and sustains momentum during the following days.

Directed as an action entertainer, I Am Game revolves around Dan John, a carefree man who seeks to make easy money through betting. Rather than relying on luck, he uses an algorithm to place his bets. His life takes an unexpected turn when the system begins working against him, sending his world into chaos.

Besides Dulquer Salmaan, the film features Antony Varghese Pepe, Kayadu Lohar, Kathir, Mysskin, Samyuktha, Vinay Forrt, Jayasudha and Shyamaprasad in key roles.

The box-office figures are based on trade estimates and may vary from the final certified collections.
