Fr Charles Menezes, parish priest of Neermarg Church was the main celebrant of the solemn mass. In keeping with the custom of Vespers, he preached a meaningful homily in Tulu about forgiveness towards one another and love towards one's neighbour.

Earlier in the evening, the celebrations commenced sharp at 6.30 pm with the blessing of the chariot of Mother Mary followed by candle-lit procession by devotees singing Marian hymns.

The main celebrant Fr Charles Menezes, parish priest of Neermarg Church blessed the statue of Lady of Lourdes, patron of Kanajar church. The candle-lit procession timed well with the setting sun to light up the surroundings. A total of 15 priests from Karkala deanery and guests priests concelebrated the Eucharistic celebration. A lot of devotees participated in the celebration.  The liturgical singing led all the people to participate meaningfully in the Holy Mass. The parish priest Fr Alwyn D'Cunha thanked all the devotees and the guest priests.

The illumination of the church and the beautiful Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes were the special attraction of the evening. The church was also decorated with flowers. The Mass was followed by spectacular fire works, which was a real feast to the eyes.
