Mangalore: Social Worker, Entrepreneur B K Ravindranath No More

Mangalore, Feb 12: Well-known social worker and entrepreneur B K Ravindranath (63), who was popularly known as 'Kuttianna' all over the district, breathed his last on Wednesday February 11 due to cardiac arrest.

Ravindranath strived for the upliftment of the downtrodden all through his life. He was well-known for skillfully solving litigations between people through counselling, conciliations and compromise. He provided lot of self-employment opportunities to the youth and found solace in seeing them prosper in life.

He had worked as the founder of Suratkal Yuvaka Mandal, organizing secretary of Sarvajanika Ganeshotsav Committee Suratkal, honorary president of Suratkal Rickshaw Owners and Drivers Association, honorary president of Sasihithlu Billava Sangh and organizer of Indian National Trade Union Congress.

He was the son of the late B K Venkappa, who had also functioned as the Panambur gram panchayat president in the past. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.

Union minister Oscar Fernandes, district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, ex Rajyasabha member B Janardan Poojary, ex-chief minister Veerappa Moily, ex-MP Vinaykumar Sorake and scores of others have condoled the death of this philanthropist and popular leader.
