Bangalore, Feb 12: A 19-year-old boy named Sukas, who used to pose himself as the son of one or the other influential ministers, was arrested by the policemen on Wednesday February 11. He has been accused of cheating several dignitaries and companies by lying to them that he happens to be the son of a minister. Assets worth Rs 44.5 lac including four luxury cars were recovered from him.

The policemen said that the arrested accused used to present himself in many names, some of which were Sukas, D K Rahul, Rohit and Ravikumar. He used to claim that he was the son of either union transport minister T R Balu or state revenue minister Karunakar Reddy or some other minister who can influence government decisions.

During interrogation, the police could trace his links with 14 cases of fraud. He used to call industrialists over phone, claiming to be the son of ministers who wielded enormous clout, and took money from them in the form of commission, duly promising them that their proposals pending with the government would be sanctioned by using the influence of his so-called father.

He collected addresses, telephone numbers etc. of businessmen through the internet. The fact that he can fluently converse in English, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil languages, came handy for him in convincing the concerned. He hired luxury cars, moved about in them, claimed that he changed cars frequently and took money from several people by saying that he would be selling his car at a low price. He also defrauded the car rental firms by giving wrong address, as a result of which they found it hard to locate him. The police said that his parents, V Chandrashekhar and Mala Chandrashekar extended tacit support to his activities.

The boy is said to have deceived S M Electronics, Delhi, after observing a tender advertisement that appeared in newspapers for fitting of GPS in KSRTC buses. Likewise, he defrauded a tyre company in Chennai, claiming that he can ensure that their tender for supplying tyres to KSRTC got passed.  He also deceived companies that participated in tenders for fans, geysers, UPS systems, computers for schools, gas stoves, inverters etc.

The policemen have also seized electronic goods, gold ornaments, two-wheeler, lap top etc valued at around three lac rupees from the teenager. Further investigations are on.
