Bantwal: Blacksmith Arrested, Illegal Arms, Ammunition Recovered

Bantwal, Feb 14: The policemen belonging to Dakshina Kannada District Crime Intelligence Bureau(DCIB) raided the workshop of a blacksmith located in Kaintila near Vittla Mangailapadavu in Bantwal taluk on Friday February 13, and recovered two pistols, an airgun, 10 sharp knives used for cockfights, three live cartridges of the pistol, used ammunition and lead bullets. They also arrested Satish Achari(41), blacksmith.

Accused Satish Achari has been carrying on with the traditional family profession of blacksmiths in a workshop located adjacent to his home. The policemen confiscated the above things, which had been illegally made by him for sale.

The arrested and also the assets seized have been handed over to the Vittal policemen for further action. The value of the assets seized is around a lac of rupees, informed DCIB inspector Venkatesh Prasanna who led the raid.
