Mangalore, Feb. 16 :1egal system  in  India needs to be  reformed  and  revamped, to make it relevant to the changed times, and to bring it on par with the legal system practiced elsewhere in the world, opined Aravinda Limbavali, state higher  education minister.

He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day  national  conference on revamping the system of  legal education organized  at  SDM college here on Saturday February 14. Karnataka Institute for Law and Parliamentary  Reforms (KILPAR) Bangalore organized  the conference  in association  with SDM law college.

"Those who study law in India fail to become lawyers in England because of the persisting differences between the legal systems of the two countries. We are following a system that was put in place by the British. So, there is a need to reform and revamp our legal system," he added.

At present, some youth get directly involved with cyber crimes but the law relating to this kind of crime is not affective enough. Some of the crimes take place repeatedly, as those involved with them have found some loopholes in the legal system. For a good society to thrive, a strong and affective legal system is necessary and therefore reforming the laws has become a necessity, Limbavali  insisted.

Dr. J S Patil, vice chancellor  of  Karnataka Law University presided over the function. MLC  Ganesh Karnik and director of KILPAR  G Dakshina Murthy  were  the chief  guests.

Prncipal of SDM  College Dr  B K Ravindra welcomed  all.
