Puttur: Double Murder Accused held in Mumbai

Puttur, Feb 16: Manjunath from Palakunnu in Kasargod, who the policemen of Uppinangady suspect to have masterminded the murder of two brothers before throwing their bodies into river Netravati in Uppinangady last week, has been arrested by the policemen in the wee hours on Monday February 16. Reports say that a team of Uppinangady policemen, which is camping in Mumbai to nab Manjunath, succeeded in taking him into custody skillfully when he was waiting for an international flight at Mumbai Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

A team of four policemen from Uppinangady, led by Puttur rural circle inspector K B Manjaiah, had rushed to Mumbai immediately after the preliminary investigations pinpointed to the involvement of Manjunath in the murders, last week. They learnt that the prime suspect in the case was trying to flee to Dubai.  The policemen rushed to the airport and nabbed the suspect.

Manjunath, a financier, had hired Ganesh and Suresh Babu brothers, as recovery agents. After the financier and the two brothers came to Mangalore last week to recover a huge outstanding sum and succeeded in recovering the long-pending dues, a skirmish ensued among them over sharing of the recovered sum, when having food and drinks in a Uppinangady Bar.

Manjunath then is suspected to have murdered the two and thrown their bodies into the river near Panjala in Uppinangady but in a haste, left behind his mobile phone. The policemen later found out that he had fled along with his wife and children, to Mumbai.
