Mangalore, Feb 17: On behalf of the City Corporation mayor Ganesh Hosabettu and others, advocate P P Hegde registered a criminal case in the court of the chief judicial magistrate here, against union minister for women and child welfare Renuka Chowdhury on Monday February 16.

The plaint filed by the advocate avers, that the minister in question has committed offences under Indian Penal Code sections 153 A pertaining to issuance of statements inciting communal disharmony, 153 B (assertions prejudicial to national integrity) and 505 (creating or promoting enmity and hatred or ill-will between classes.

The court which accepted the complaint, has ordered for registration of a private complaint against the accused. In a press conference held later, Hegde said that the offences mentioned in the petition are punishable with imprisonment up to three years. The hearing in the case has been posted to Tuesday February 17. Mayor Ganesh Hosabettu was present in the press conference.

They said that the union minister already is facing three cases relating to assaulting a police constable, barging into Banjara police station in Hyderabad in the year 2004 and destroying assets.

It is learnt, that several Mahila Mandals, Yuvaka Mandals and some dignitaries of the city have joined the mayor in registering the case.

Hosabettu however clarified, that the complaint had been filed by him in his personal capacity and not on behalf of the City Corporation. Further, the advocate has agreed to argue the case without charging any fee, he informed.

Can mangaloreans pls elect a mayor who can indulge in some constructive activity rather than getting into some petty issues, also can't understand that an active lawyer has time enough to get into such destructive activity Its about time that Mayor Ganesh along with Lawyer Hegde do some social service along with the youth sena such as city clean up, better public toilets, ensue garbage is cleared daily. This will definitely help the youth spend time constructively rather direct the youth to distructive activity.

Do you think Ganesh hosabettu did something wrong? In my view every person has right to protest against blame wich majority mangloreans are not involved in that case so how blame comes all of us from Renuka choudary as all of us talibanies.

On behalf of mangloreans he file the case against her.Still thare was ultimatum given to Renuka choudary for appologise over for the comments she gave the media, is it impossible to her spend 2 minutes with media to apologise innocent manglorean's.So it is definitely politically motivated statement from Renuka against Manglorean's culture & peace

Ganesh Hosbettu has every righty to file a case against Renuka Chowdary and as mentioned this is not the first time she has instigated the public, every time she comes out there will be some provocationary statements and trying to spoil the image of Mangalore and the congress is directly and indirectly supporting this and claiming themselves that they are secular.
