Mangalore, Feb 17: Karnataka Paradesh Congress Committee president R V Deshpande warned the local leaders in no uncertain terms, that he is not at all happy about the organizational activities of the party in the coastal belt. "Because of the false prestige of the leaders here, the party has suffered setbacks. The party will take action against those leaders who do not get involved with organizational work, without fear of favour," he cautioned, adding that he would be providing full information on these activities to the high command.

Speaking at a meeting of party workers after inaugurating it at Hotel Lalit, Suratkal on Sunday February 15, he asked the workers to be vigilant about the maladministration of the present state government. "Our workers are our assets. We are strengthening the organization with an eye on the Loksabha election. For the party to gain strength, the leaders should dissolve their internal bickering and work unitedly," he said.

Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee president B Ramanat Rai presided. KPCC general secretary Manjunat Bhandary delivered introductory address.

Several workers, laying bare their feelings, complained that the workers, who trail the leaders, are being recognized while the genuine workers are not at all getting the respect due to them.
