Mysore, Feb 17: Providing a clue to the bleak indications that the mounting pressures that have been taking a toll on the personnel of the CISF and army, giving rise to inclinations on the part of the frustrated men to go on a rampage with their service revolvers, has been spreading to even the state police force, a police constable here killed an inspector and committed suicide by using the same gun, at the Police Parade Ground here on Monday February 16.

Shiva Kumar (33), a constable working with Karnataka State Reserve Police force, is the murderer in this case. He gunned down his superior, police inspector Nage Gowda (52) and then directed the gun on himself and committed suicide.

It is said, that enmity between the two started brewing three months ago after heated words were exchanged between them. Shivkumar was suspended thereafter, and even after he rejoined after completing the suspension period, Nage Gowda reportedly used to mentally harass him. Not only was Shivakumar derided in front of his colleagues, but the inspector reportedly acted repeatedly in a way that made the constable to seethe in anger. Shivakumar had many a time, shared his agony over the attitude of his superior, with his colleagues.

On Monday, Shivakumar, who had joined the force two weeks ago after completing the suspension period, had donated blood. As he is eligible for a day's leave on this count, he approached Nage Gowda for the same, but his request was flatly turned down.  He then loaded 10 bullets onto his service gun and as soon as he saw inspector Nage Gowda conversing casually with others, started firing indiscriminately. Nage Gowda ran away into the room, but could not escape when Gowda fired from close range. When other personnel came running, Shivkumar ran away from them and fired at himself, it is learnt. Out of the ten bullets he had loaded, he used five.

While two rounds killed the two, the other three bullets were found on the wall, near the door frame and on the ground floor of the office.
