Mangalore, Feb 17: "Write about health and health conservation. But desist from writing on the symptoms of ailments that may cause undue apprehensions or create jitters in the minds of the general public," advised retired vice-chancellor of MAHE University and veteran medical practioner Prof B M Hegde. He added, the medical field witnesses fast-paced changes and several things mentioned in a book become redundant before it is released in the market. Hence, those writing books on them should be very careful not to give rise to unreasonable fear in the minds of the people, he insisted. Medical practice should never be construed as business, he cautioned.

He was speaking after releasing nine books in Kannada written by experts on different aspects of health, released by the circulation division (Prasaranga) of Karnataka State Open University(KSOU)) at a function held on Monday February 16 at Sahodaya Hall of Balmatta Karnataka Theological Research Centre  in the city.

KSOU vice chancellor B A Vivek Rai presided over the function. He said that all the educational fields have been experiencing sweeping changes and the curriculum of the Open University is also being revised in tune with the changing times.

Karnataka Theological College principal Dr J Sadanand felt that every one needs to contribute towards making our society a healthy one. He observed, that all the works released at the function, have a positive outlook about health.

Honorary director of Prasaranga Prof D K Rajendra lauded the efforts put in by B A Vivek Rai in enabling his division to bring out 15 books within a short span of a year since its inception.

Prof A V Navada welcomed. Registrar K R Jayaprakash Rao proposed vote of thanks. Deputy registrar Dr A Rangaswamy presented the programme.

Mr. Rakesh, Your writing does not make any sense. Please read the artical again and try to understand what is written. Prof.(Dr.) B M Hegde is retired vice-chancellor of MAHE University. He is not only very respected doctor in the country he is also respected for his vast knowledge and voratory skil. What makes you to drag-in "christian circle" in to this discussion? What are you try to make out? We mangaloreans had enough of such meaningless discussions recently.

Kudos to the Prof! As the highest authority of Manipal University, Prof. B.M. Hegde has plenty of opportunity to practise his advice in the KMC group rather than disseminate it in Christian circles. We'd first like to see him establish a non-business minded practice of the medical profession at KMC before making veiled allegations against the pioneering service of Christians.
