Mangalore: Local Court Orders Registering of FIR against Renuka Chowdhury

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 19: The Third Junior Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court here has directed the city rural police station to register first information report (FIR) against union minister Renuka Chowdhury, who is facing allegations of making derogatory and insulting statements against the city and its citizens and also initiate legal action.

The court also directed the city rural police station to file a report on the legal action taken by it in this respect, in the court before March 20. It may be recalled, that the court, which had taken up the hearing of the criminal case filed by city mayor Ganhesh Hosabettu, some organizations and dignitaries against the said minister on Tuesday February 17, had reserved its orders for Wednesday. In the afternoon on Wednesday, the court announced its decision.

Advocate P P Hegde, who appeared on behalf of the plaintiffs, said that the decision of the court has upheld the honour and nobility of the city and its citizens. The complainants have averred, that minister Chowdhury had stated that the city has been Talibanized and that the citizens launch an assault whenever they come across Hindu girls speaking to Muslim boys. Chowdhury faces charges under IPC section 153A, 153 B and 505 of Indian Penal Code.

The minister already is facing four different cases in various courts of the country, and the present one is the fifth, advocate Hegde added.

Has Indian culture given sanction to certain people/ sect to preach and teach everyone what actually it stands for? In the name of religion and gender this is happening all too often for comfort. Today if I ask all of you to define Indian culture, I am sure we can’t come to a consensus because Indian culture is bigger than all of us. It is beyond the confines of narrow-mindedness of individuals. Such incidents are actually handiwork of criminal elements who attack weaker sections of our society to prove their superiority or get instant fame.

It is the surpise element which gives them upper hand otherwise they can easily be thrashed by the public. Truth is women have progressed beyond expectations. They have a mind of their own. Truth is, they are equal to or even better than men at places. Those who feel threatened by her rise, try to use muscle power in the garb of Indian culture to put her down….but for how long? Indian culture stands for being equal to your male partner.

It gives freedom to pursue your goals. Live in a free society for self growth and growth of your community. It stands for evolvement of an individual to become a better person. In this vast ocean called Indian culture few weeds have grown that are polluting and hampering free flow of water. They need to be weeded out soon!! Time to ring the bell.

Dear Mr. Nagesh Nayak, do you hate minorities? Who are they? Are they not Indians? In your comments you express that minorities are some what not Indians. If Congress is appeasing minorities’ for vote bjp is terrorizing minorities and poisoning the minds of Hindus for vote bank.

What is the difference in that case? Will Renuka Choudury express her opinion if not pub attacks were not carried out? I support Renuka Choudury for which she aptly pointed the situation of Mangalore in her statement as Talibanization.

Let the court decide the case and justice prevail her. Why not filed FIR before attacking Amnesia Pub for which the attackers claim that illegal activities were going on. The case shows nothing but fundamentals are ruling and politically motivated.

I am sure more and more people will come to support the Minister on her raising the voice of women. She has surely shown than men dominated society cannot hold  women to ransom. I wish her all the best and support her view on raising her voice as a woman . My prayers are with the women who want to live as liberated people and want to express their rights and not be hemmed by moral police

Renuka Chowdary is the product of a system where Talibanization is legitimized and is the theme of education (ask Arjun Singh for the logic behind equating Madrasa education and CBSE education). Before they chide the advocate, it helps Edwin & Vera to learn what 'Talibanization is not' from the 'progressive & revolutionary' rulers of West Bengal of the Nandigram infamy perhaps in contrast with what the Rama sene did. Or maybe, they would be satiated if the Rama Sene emulated the CPM of Bengal and the centre merely turned the other way because then Renuka is lost in a local pub.

Mrs.Renuka Choudhary deserves to be convicted along with all trouble makers of Mangalore. Courts direction to file a FIR is right in view of her haughty statement against Mangaloreans.

The Ram Sena, Bajrang Dal and BJP are responsible for tarnishing the image of Mangalore for several years. This case seems to be politically motivated. Mr.Hosbettu should step down as Mayor of Mangalore and instead become Mayor of some taliban held town in Pakistan.

That's a positive development. No one says that Mangalore incident is good one in a democratic country like India. But that does not guarantee likes of Renuka Chouudhury to settle their political score over opposition and blame a whole community or people of a state. Isn't she over reacting ? If she thinks that just by making some hardhitting speeches against a issue could take her to limelight then good luck to her. There is a growing concern against pub and western culture among the masses as they think that our own culture stands in the crossroads. But ofcourse violence in any form is condemned but we must not overlook these views. If this happened in AP,DELHI ...could she react in same language ?

I wish Mayor Hosbettu, and so called organisations and dignatories alongwith PP Hegde, use their positive energy to clean-up the tarnished image of Mangalore city by initiating action against fundamental outfits such as Rama sene, Bajrang Dal etc..rather than filing case against the Minister who only showed her courage to speak against these criminal eliments who are all set to distroy the secular image of Mangalore city. She has not spoken against the citizens of Mangalore.!

The 'honour and nobility' of a city and its people lies in respecting every other citizen, however small, poor, weak or helpless. But Mr. Hegde you seem to forget that the goons of rama sene have proved otherwise.

Do they know what hounour and nobility is ? How can those who practice violence and physical assault on the weak take ask to be called noble and honourable.. God help Mangaloreans if those who are ignorant of what honour and nobility is, take upon themselves the task of maintaining the honour and nobility of the city! Also, look at the neighbouring countries and compare- groups of goondas can roam round freely assaulting people because they do not like their dress, habit, religion or lifestyle only in a Talibanised city/State.....

Is there a similarity Mr. Advocate? I think you should learn to define the term "talibanisation' before you can object to it . The Mayor too can join you.....

All are equal in front law. Last year Mr. Laluprasad Yadav blamed Kannadigas as "dirty people". Except Kannada Chaluvali Watal Nagrag, no one protested this ugly statement.
