Udupi: Vedike Stages Protest against Home Minister

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SN/SP)

Udupi, Feb 19: The state home minister is responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the district. Hence, he must be expelled from the state cabinet, demanded the members of Komu Souharda Vedike during a protest held by them in front of the office of the district superintendent of police here on Tuesday February 17.

Inept handling by the policemen in the case of the abduction and harassment of Manjeshwar MLA's daughter has come into light. The police behaviour was the same during the recent pub attack case too.

The University as well as the head of the University College are now trying to take action against Pattabhirama Somayaji, lecturer of the college on frivolous grounds, for opposing the pub attack, they said.

The state government has taken back the cases registered against the Sangh Parivar. While the coalition government of the BJP and JDS withdrew 40 cases, the BJP has taken back 11 cases. These are unilateral decisions, they criticized.

K Janardhan Bhandarkar, district president, Komu Souharda Vedike, G Rajashekar, convener, Hussain Kodibengre, Gopal Shgetty, Dr U Vanajakshi, T M Jafrulla, Kasim Barkur, Phaniraj, Dinakar Bengre and  Hayavadana Upadyay were present on the occasion.
