Udupi: Passing-out Ceremony of Armed Police Cadets held

Udupi, Feb 19: The passing-out ceremony of the third batch of armed police cadets of Police Training School, was held at Chandu Maidan here on Wednesday February 18. 

State home minister Dr V S Acharya accepted the guard of honour.   

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Acharya said that the union cabinet had approved the proposal to form an internal security department and the state would contribute 50 percent of their basic salaries.  The police personnel are expected to discharge their duties in a manner that will enhance the confidence the public has on the law enforcing authority. 

Cadets appointed in various police stations can increase their efficiency by constantly upgrading skills, said Dr Acharya. He said that the police department faces a shortage of personnel and the process of recruitment is underway.  

Dr Acharya added that nobody can interfere or influence the process and the eligible candidates will certainly get a chance.  Attempts are being made to modernize the police set- up and devise the latest training modules, he added. 

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hemalata P was the chief guest on the occasion. 

Kundapur deputy superintendent (DySP) of police Shashidar administered the oath to the police cadets.  DySP Vishwanat Pandit read the report. 

Superintendent of police Praveen Madhukar Pawar welcomed the gathering.  Journalist K C Rajesh compered the programme.
