Puttur, Feb 19: In a case in which Ganesh and Suresh Babu brothers were murdered presumably relating to a financial dispute and their bodies were thrown into river Netravati near Uppinangady recently, Puttur rural police circle inspector Manjaiah B K and staff have succeeded in arresting three suspects.

Financier Manju alias Manjunath from Kasargod Adkatbail who runs a finance company, Kiran Kumar and Radhakrishna from Kasargod  have been arrested by them. Another accused, Jagga alias Jagadish, a Kasargod resident, is absconding.

On being produced in Puttur court on Wednesday February 18, the accused were remanded to judicial custody till March 4.

It is learnt that Manjunath had lent five lac rupees to the above brothers, three years ago. In spite of frequent reminders and warnings, they put off repayment of both principal and interest. Manjunath had picked Ganesh and Suresh Babu from Kudregodu on February 6. After having food in Mangalore, the brothers, Manjunath and his accomplices cited above went to Uppinangady. When having dinner at a bar in Nekkilady that day at around 11 pm, a friction broke out between the brothers and the accused, over repayment of the loan. The accused then killed Ganesh and Suresh Babu by stabbing them with knives and returned after tossing the bodies into river Netravati, to Kasargod.

On February 7, Manjunath accompanied by the other three accused, went to Kundapur after visiting Anegudde and Kollur temples, before fleeing to Mumbai via Kumta and Goa. Instead of going to his in-laws' home in Malad Mumbai, Manjunath preferred to stay in a home in Vasai residential area in the city.

A mobile phone found at the spot from where the bodies were found, enabled the policemen to reach to the bottom of the case. It is learnt that Manjunath wanted to threaten the brothers to repay the loans, as he was in dire straits financially. Instead, the brothers got killed.

A police team comprising of Mohan, Venkatesh Bhat, Harishchandra, Hariprasad, Ravichandra and vehicle driver Lingappa were involved with the operations.

Manju and his associates should be given death sentance. Who ever kills a person he should be given death sentence then only our country will be saved. Here if one person kills another he will be taken in to custody for 24 hours and then left on bail or say no evidence and he is set free, that is why today there is no respect for human beings and they are being killed like killing chickens.
