Udupi: Car Street to Transform into Colour Street on Feb 21, 22

Mangalore, Feb 21: A two-day painting camp will be held on Car Street of Krishna Math in Udupi on Saturday February 21 and Sunday February 22. A painting camp is being organized by Udupi District Artists Union and Chitrakala Mandir, in association with Paryaya Puttige Math and JCI, Kallianpur at the above venue, it is learnt.

The artists will paint the nature on the spot by exhibiting the proficiency they have on this art form besides disseminating the knowledge they have about the art. A world of colours will be created and different views of nature will be exhibited in around 30 spots on Car Street. Around 30 to 40 artists will display over 120 art pieces on the occasion, to provide a unique opportunity and experience to the visitors, interested persons as well as the budding artists.

Shri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Paryaya Puttige Math will inaugurate the art exhibition. MLA Raghupati Bhat will preside over the function.

Dr U C Niranajan, secretary, Chitrakala Mandir, and Vijay Kumar Shetty, president, JCI, Kallianpur will participate as chief guests. Renowned artist P P Karant will demonstrate his talent and imaginative skills to the people through his art, before the start of the programme.

Shri Lakshmivara Teerta Swamiji of Shiroor Math will be present at the valedictory function to be held on Sunday February 22 at 4 pm.

Manjunath Bailoor, president, Udupi Artists Union will preside over the function while senior artists like K Lakshman Bhat and P N Acharya will participate as chief guests, it was informed.

K L Bhat, Union honorary president, Majunath Bailoor, district president, Raghavendra Amin, general secretary, Satyashankar Rao, Rajendra Trasi and Harishchandra Acharya were present at the press conference.
