Mangalore, Feb 24: The city committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) protested in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office on Monday February 23 demanding a revision of the bus fare.

District committee president, Muneer Katipalla said that the bus operators demand a hike in fare when the fuel price goes up, and now though the fuel price has decreased the fare has not. He alleged that bus operators are interested only in collecting money, and not in providing good services.

Katipalla urged the regional transport authority to make necessary arrangements to revise the price and said the authority had last year permitted operators to increase the fare by 23 percent more than demanded even though the DYFI had shown its resentment.

Protesters demanded immediate revision of the fare keeping in mind the poor and the middle class who use buses for commuting each day.

City committee president L T Suvarna, secretary Ramesh Kumar, Students Federation of India (SFI) president  Jeevan  Kuttar, and Prashanth were present.
