Puttur: Mosque Wall Collapse: 14 Arrested

Belthangady, Mar 1: Police arrested 14 persons, including Thurkalike Mosque Managing Board President and Secretary, in the mosque wall collapse incident during a religious ceremony.

The arrested are Mosque President A Abdulla, Secretary K P Yakub, Vice-Presidents K Dawood, P H Moosa Kunha, Joint Secretaries Rajak, Abdul Hameed, Treasurer Sulaiman and members K Abdul Lathif, Usuf, B K Mohammed, Adam, G Mohammed, Bavunhi, M Mohammed. All the arrested accused appeared before the police on Saturday. They were produed before the court. The Managing Committee had 24 members.

It may be recalled that thousands had gathered for the religious programme in the mosque premises when the compund wall collapsed, claiming five lives.

    Why police have arrested Mosque managing board members ??? If the contractor who has done the job and the designer was caught atleast reasonable. What this board members can do if the contractor has cheated !!??? Are they technically qualified to hold them guilty ????!!!!

    Religion and Law should not interfere. The question in this hour is in many cases other religion casualties has taken place and the govt. has to  compensateo the deceased memebers of the family and no action to the committee. Here it is other way round.
