Mumbai: Police held man who stole cheques worth Rs 46 lac

Mumbai, Apr 11: The police here, on Wednesday arrested Ashok Gadhve (30) for stealing cheques worth Rs 46 lac from a bank in Kandivli on Monday.

Police traced Ashok, who is reportedly a hearing and speech challenged, through social media.

Police said that he had committed similar offence in different places in Mumbai and Pune.

The TOI reports state that, 59 cheques disappeared from Corporation’s Bank’s MG Road branch on Monday and CCTV footage caught a man walking away with them.

The report says the police found a Facebook profile of the suspect and contacted his Facebook friend and arrested him from Pune.
