Kundapur, Apr 12: A person who had left his home when young, returned to his home at Gangolli after a gap of 33 years. Rama Kharvi (50), eldest son of late Govinda Khari and Kamala Kharvi, residing at Godihithlu on Manganese Road, Gangolli, came back home on Wednesday April 10.

Rama Kharvi was seen searching for his house on Manganese Road Gangolli at around 1 pm on Wednesday. He showed his house address to a person named Prakash Kharvi residing in the same surroundings and asked for directions. Kharvi took him home, hosted him, and during the conversation, realized that he was Rama Kharvi, who had left home 33 years back. The members of Rama Kharvi's family identified him with the help of an injury mark he had sustained when young on his leg, and took him back home.

Rama Kharvi is the eldest of seven sons and two daughters of Govinda and Kamala couple. He was born and brought up in a poor fishing family. His father went out for fishing, and Rama used to pull boats ashore and undertake repairs at a very young age. Once he had suffered deep injury after the rope used to pull the boat brushed against his leg. His wound was healed after sometime. He tried to run away twice but failed in both attempts. Rama Kharvi was mentally depressed because of his leg injury, and he went away from his family and started eking out livelihood at Bengaluru since May 1986. He later worked in hotels at Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad. After leaving home, initially he used to write letters to his family but never provided his address.

In the past he had twice visited Dharmasthala via Gangolli but never visited his family. This time too he had decided to go back to Odisha if he could not find his family members.
