Mangalore: Wayward Truck Hits Scooters - One Dies, Four Injured

Mangalore, Mar 17: After the driver of a truck lost control over his vehicle, it hit two scooters before falling sideways by the side of a road at Kadambar-Hosangady, Manjeshwar near Kasargod here on Monday March 16 evening.

The scooter rider, who died in the accident, has been identified as Ibrahim Musliyar (40), a resident of Vorkady Kaniyoor, an Imam of the local Bilal mosque.  Rider of another scooter, Usman Musliyar Pathoor (42), truck inmates Hanumantappa (38), Anand (33) and another yet-to be identified person, who were injured, were admitted to a hospital in the city.

Both Ibrahim and Usman are part-time teachers in a local private school. They were returning in their respective scooters after teaching there, when a truck loaded with laterite stones that came from the opposite direction veered from its path and hit the scooterists, it is reported. Locals said that the same truck had hit an autorickshaw some time back in this region, resulting in the death of a girl.

Ibrahim was to attend the death anniversary commemoration function of his brother, who died a year ago and his family members were awaiting his arrival for holding the function. The local policemen have registered a case.
