Bangalore: BJP Releases Third List of Candidates from State

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Mar 18: The BJP that has already come out with its list of 20 Lok Sabha candidates from the state earlier officially published another list where four more names find a mention. At the Election Management Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of the party's national president Rajnath Singh on Tuesday March 17 at New Delhi, the recommendations made by the state unit were accepted.

The list has named MLC D S Veeraiah as the party candidate from Kolar, Chickpet ex-MLA P C Mohan from Bangalore Central, Janaradhan Swamy from Chitradurga and ex-minister K H Hanume Gowda from Hassan constituency. With this, the party is left with four more constituencies from the state, Bangalore North, Chickballapur, Mandya and Bangalore Rural, for which it has to make public its choice of candidates.

Although it is not official, it is well known that the party has decided to field minister Ramachandra Gowda from Bangalore North constituency. If the party's efforts to woo actor-turned-politician Ambareesh into its fold and field him from this constituency fail, Ramachandra Gowda will enter the fray.

It is almost certain, that Congress MLA from Channapatna, C P Yogishwar will be the party's candiadate from Bangalore Rural constituency, although he is yet to officially join the BJP. Yogishwar, in spite of being a Congress MLA, has been taking part in BJP activities since some time. Name of entrepreneur Ashwathnarayan has been recommended to the central committee from Chickballapur constituency. It is learnt that the party is trying to cajole Congress MLA Dr Sudhakar or ex-minister K Srinivas Gowda to join the BJP and fight the election from this constituency.  From Mandya, ex MLA D C Tammanna may be chosen as the party candidate.
