Udupi: Permission Not Granted for Charlie Chaplin's Statue - DC

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SN/SP)

Udupi, Mar 20: The film 'House Full' by Designer Productions had not received any written or verbal consent from the district administration for the erection of Charlie Chaplin’s Statue at Ottinene of Kundapur taluk, said P Hemalata, deputy commissioner of the district.

Nandakiskore from Designer Production had submitted an application, requesting the administration to grant permission to build the statue of Charlie Chaplin at Ottinene on Tuesday February 24, but the applicant did not submit the specific details of the spot and other information required, she said.

Since the place comes under jurisdiction of the forest department, a copy of the application was sent to the deputy forest conservator, Kundapur and the district superintendent of police on Wednesday March 4, she claimed.

She said, the applicant need to be in possession of the permission letter issued by the deputy conservator of forests, Coastal Regulatory Zone officials, district superintendent of police and the local bodies prior to starting the erection of permanent or temporary statue.

As the applicant has not received the mandatory ‘no objection certificates’ from the concerned departments as per the rules, permission for the statue cannot be granted to him, she clarified.
